WebOct 20, 2024 · CyTOF was originally developed by Scott Tanner and colleagues at the University of Toronto ( 1 ). Simplified, the CyTOF technique begins by incubating fixed cell suspensions and antibodies labeled with heavy metals that are not present in normal biological systems. WebCyTOF uses antibodies that are linked to unique heavy-metal isotopes and the quantity of reporter ions in a particular mass channel becomes a signal with high accuracy for molecular expression with little overlap between parameters. It has become an invaluable tool in single-cell proteomics. Fig. Mechanisms of flow cytometry and mass cytometry
Mass Cytometry - an overview ScienceDirect Topics
Cytometry by time of flight, or CyTOF, is an application of mass cytometry used to quantify labeled targets on the surface and interior of single cells. CyTOF allows the quantification of multiple cellular components simultaneously using an ICP-MS detector. CyTOF takes advantage of immunolabeling to quantify proteins, carbohydrates o… WebJul 3, 2024 · CyTOF utilizes antibodies labeled with rare earth metal isotopes instead of fluorescent dyes and the resulting abundances are detected using a time-of-flight mass … chubby and tubby
